Good Morning, Catastrophe!

Published by plabella at 12:34 am under 1 Edit This

Everyday I wake up thinking, ‘Maybe today is the day we’ll get some good news.’ Sad to report, today is not that day. In-fact the news got worse as the day went on. It started with government leaders failing to come to any solution to this economic meltdown. The bailout mush is so convoluted, many people (including the press) have no idea what’s going on. Now Paulson is back in Washington and this most likely will end up going through the weekend.

By mid-day there was talk of McCain cancelling the debate with Barak Obama tomorrow, so he could “take care of business.” Come on, Man - we’ve had enough of your business.

Then, as I was driving home from work tonight, I hear that Washington Mutual has been closed by the U.S. Government, in what’s being called the worse bank failure in American history.

I’m not even going to go into the Palin sound bites I’ve been hearing from that embarrassing Katie Couric interview last night. I mean really, how many times can you say, “….you know…” until you just make yourself sound as stupid as we all suspect you really are. but that’s for another time. We have bigger problems.

The WaMu collapse is no big surprise. The fact that it came right now, however is. I’ve heard other grumbling about more banks and businesses. Is it possible that foreign banks will be the next to step in? What about Starbucks and Target? Who will buy those out? What are the short and long range ramifications of this?

There has got to be some answers. Maybe tomorrow will be the day when we get some good news.

This just in from the Ministry of Truth:

    Good News Everyone!

Thanks to the hard work and determination of your revered leader, everything is now just ducky. Go about your business, spend your money, and don’t worry about a thing. Your Government has it all under control. The Ministry advises that citizens no longer utilize cable news sources for information. In fact, the Ministry will effectively ban all news sources other than FOX News, the New York Post, and Excellence In Broadcasting Radio as of 3 p.m. tomorrow. Again, everything is fine. God Bless.

    Feel any better?
